Silver Spring Egress Window Installation
In Silver Spring, Maryland, we undertook an exciting project to enhance the basement of a lovely couple preparing for their newborn. They sought to transform their basement into a bright, functional space with increased light, ventilation, and safety, including a legal bedroom. To achieve this, we installed two egress windows tailored to their needs.
For the first window, we chose a 30 x 60 Wital European tilt-and-turn window, complemented by a Boman Kemp well. The second egress window was a 48 x 48 twin Wital European tilt-and-turn model, outfitted with a tan Rockwell Elite window well and a polycarbonate cover.
Since both windows were being installed in new locations—one adjacent to an I-beam with a point load—engineering was not required. We managed all aspects of the project, from initial drawings to structural engineering, and completed the installation to the highest standards. The only task left to another contractor was the interior finishing of the basement.
The results were impressive. The couple was thrilled with the transformation; the newly installed windows significantly brightened and ventilated the once dark and musty basement, nearly doubling their usable living space. Additionally, we installed a sump pump system for each window due to the poor condition of the existing drain tile.
